National Trails Day Hike with Don Childrey

On Saturday, June 7th, 2025, guidebook author Don Childrey will lead a 6-mile hike from the Woodrun Trailhead on NC 24/27.
*This intermediate-level hike will start at noon.
Along the way, we’ll visit a couple of the “Lost Uwharrie” locations. These are little-known spots of interest that have fallen out of common knowledge and nearly been lost to the passage of time. Sound mysterious? Curious to know more? Join in on this hike and discover more of the Uwharries!
Hikers should be prepared for hiking in warm weather, on rugged surfaces, for 3-4 hours. Bring your own drinks/snacks/sunscreen/insect repellant.
